Grant Accountant
Culver City, CA

A nonprofit organization serving children and families is seeking a Grant Accountant to provide temporary grant accounting support.

Details:

  • Location: Culver City
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm (fully onsite)
  • Type: Temporary, 4-6 months
  • Pay: $33-$40/hour
  • System Preference: Blackbaud Financial Edge (NXT)

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Strong experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Preferred background in nonprofit accounting with government-funded grants
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance, budgeting, cost allocation, and nonprofit accounting
  • Intermediate Excel skills required (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, linking workbooks)
  • Experience using accounting systems and building financial reports
  • Preferred: Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT experience

What You'll Be Doing

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for funders, Policy Council, and program management
  • Monitor grant and contract budgets; identify and report variances
  • Develop grant budgets and assist with financial narratives for funding applications
  • Perform grant close-out activities, including reconciliations, final invoices, and financial status reports
  • Record monthly grant revenue and receivables
  • Review weekly cash drawdowns per agency policy and funding regulations
  • Prepare and review general ledger entries and adjusting journal entries
  • Review accounts payable for proper coding, cost allocation, allowability, and accuracy
  • Support and train program staff on grant accounting and compliance principles
